People with disabilities are often unfairly disregarded in marketing and communications efforts. Whether people with disabilities are your primary audience or you want to do the right thing by ensuring your communications extend to all people, Suasion has the expertise to ensure your marketing, websites and events are accessible.
People with disabilities are often unfairly disregarded in marketing and communications efforts. Whether people with disabilities are your primary audience or you want to do the right thing by ensuring your communications extend to all people, Suasion has the expertise to ensure your marketing, websites and events are accessible.
Create fully accessible websites.
We create websites that are disability-friendly, designed to be used by people with limited dexterity, visual impairments, or cognitive impairments, and work with assistive devices such as screen readers. We understand the nuances of color choices, navigation structure, programming, page setup, and font use and how these impact different disabilities.
Design brochures and printed materials that are more easily read.
As with websites, there are many variables that affect how easily a brochure can be used by people with different disabilities. These variables include color combinations, layout, font use, paper type and use of language.
Produce communications in alternate formats.
Suasion can produce communications in alternative formats to accommodate various disabilities. For example, we develop closed- and open-captioned videos, Braille materials, and audio descriptions and messaging for visual communications.
Write copy and news releases that validate rather than insult.
For people with disabilities, language can represent attitudes. Far too often, written words convey people with disabilities inappropriately and focus on their disability, as opposed to themselves as a person. While this is often unintentional, it still propagates the stigma against people with disabilities. Suasion is experienced in using the right words and expressing the appropriate attitude that encourages and empowers all people.
Test concepts and messaging with our disability advisory panel.
Because Suasion does so much work with the disability community, we develop advisory panels to provide feedback on the materials we produce. This group includes people of different ages, occupations and disabilities to provide a broad cross-section of input.
Plan and manage events that are truly accessible and enjoyed by all people.
While the ADA requires public venues to be “accessible,” this does not mean your event will be free of barriers for people with disabilities. There are many aspects of an event that may pose problems, or at least discomfort for some people. Suasion can help make your event truly accessible and enjoyable for all who attend. We plan and manage the large and small variables of your event such as appropriate microphones (not everyone can use a hand-held or podium microphone), room layout and seating arrangements (different spacing is needed for wheelchairs), use of sign language interpreters or CART services for individuals who are deaf, and even the availability of straws for individuals who cannot lift a glass to drink. Whether you are holding a press conference, workshop, dinner event or conference, Suasion can help you with the myriad of details to ensure all people can be equal participants.
